In the Experiments App within the OneOmics suite, metadata can be quickly assigned for large-scale studies using .csv files. To use .csv files for metadata assignment, first create a metabolomics or proteomics SWATH acquisition experiment and select .wiff files for processing. Then go to the metadata Samples Editor and click the download icon to download the .wiff file names into a .csv file (Figure 1). The .csv file will include columns for assigning metadata such as Experimental Group, Biological Group and Technical Group (for more information on replicate requirements in the OneOmics suite, please see this community post).
Figure 1. To use .csv files for metadata assignment in the Experiments App, create a metabolomics or proteomics SWATH acquisition experiment that contains .wiff files for processing and then download the .wiff file names into a .csv file using the metadata Samples Editor.
Input the metadata information for your experiment using spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, and then upload the completed .csv file by clicking the upload icon, which is located next to the download icon in the Samples Editor. Once the file is uploaded, the metadata will automatically populate the Samples Editor.
For a demonstration of assigning metadata using .csv files, please see the Cloud talk on the Experiment Manager App for metabolomics.
