Source optimization

Hello. I am setting up a new development method for analyzing toxic chemicals.

Actually, I am faced with problems related to choosing the suitable values for factors such as CUR, ionspray voltage, nebulizer gas (GS1); heater gas (GS2); and temperature (TEM).

I have already got the peak and intensity its factors at many kinds of values.

Could you suggest me some documents or advices to achieve the best results.

Thank you so much.

I am looking forward to be waited reply.

Great question! We did put together a general post on source optimization to help folks get started on method development. There are suggested ranges for the various parameters in this post, for the various SCIEX sources. Performing ramps across the ranges and finding the optimal settings by monitoring peak intensity and spray stability is a great way to tune. Some parameters are related too, like GS2 and Temperature, and protrusion and GS1, so these are good to do in combination.

General source/gas settings to use when starting method development

Some compounds will of course fall outside these ranges if they are particularly fragile or hard to ionize. You can also reach out to our technical support team on the phone and they can help guide you with any tricky optimizations!
